Time to Beat the Excuses

Time to Beat the Excuses

Ever felt your walking program or walking goal is in a slump because of the cold weather seasons, body feeling fatigued at times, tired of walking on your own?

Weather is too cold:

Find a sport or community center where you can do your walk indoors.
However if you prefer walking outdoors then to keep warm, its best to layer up.

Layering when preparing to walk in cold weather:

This would consist of a base layer would preferably be a moisture-wicking long sleeve thermal t. shirt and a leggings to keep the sweat away from your skin.

The mid-layer would be a fleece t. shirt, then a light weight insulated jacket. For the outer-layer, you could then wear a windproof jacket to protect against windy conditions.

Wearing a track pants over the leggings would ensure your muscles stay warm while walking.
Investing in a thicker pair of socks is always a benefit for these cold days, just as the gloves and beanie will keep the heat insulated, keeping your head and hands warm.

Waking up tired:

Setting up your daily schedule to ensure you get to bed early enough, this way your body will feel rested the next morning.

8 hours is the approximate amount of hours needed for a good rest. This way you wake up feeling refreshed to do your walk.

If you prefer walking late afternoon, fuel your body beforehand and hydrate throughout the day as this will keep your mind and body alert.

An intake of multivitamins and immune boosters assists the body during your exercise routine. Take these according to your personal needs.

Best Motivation:

A change of scenery, in walking different routes such as trails, going to Botanical Gardens taking walking buddies with is wonderful motivation and uplifts your mood. A group is a good way of being accountable to yourself and everyone in it. This also makes the walk more relaxing in the sense of enjoying the surroundings with others.

Exercise should challenge you, not hurt you. Always listen your body as this will teach you to recognize what your body needs.
